Using the Web of Science, the citation counts when searching the topic “breed-specific legislation” resulted in a vast difference of results. Scopus generated 254 document results while Web of Science only generated 68. I think the reason for this gap is due to 1) Scopus search was done within “allfields”, 2) Web of Science is mainly or exclusively focused on journals versus Scopus and3) Web of Science does not include books or book chapters as a document type like Scopus. While I did start my topic midway through the semester, it did put me in a little bit of a disadvantage. However, when I did look up to see the number of citations, I was able to locate
Boolean/Phrase: (SO (PloS one.))AND(DT 2016)AND(TI "what’s in a name")
Under Scopus, using the citation method, I searched for “breed-specific legislation” using all fields to generate the results. The first article, Aggressive behavior is affected by demographic, environmental and behavioural factors in purebred dogs, and scrolled down to the articles citation sources to locate any information or articles that were relevant to this one. The article that I found was titled, Factors linked to dominance aggression in dogs, by J. Perez-Guisado (Pérez-Guisado, J., & Muñoz-Serrano, A., 2009). Factors linked to dominance aggression in dogs are the main topics of their research. Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances, 8(2), 336-342. Retrieved from www.scopus.com.
When I looked up the article to locate the h-index for Salla Mikkola, I had to locate her full first name in order to do so. Initially, her name only listed the first letter and with several results, I had to make certain the correct author was being referenced. Using the Web of Science and Scopus, I was able to locate the h-index: 3. There was no difference between the two databases but this number is understandable due to the fact that she only had five publications.
Under the Journal Citation Reports, the impact factor for the ISSN number 2045-2322 was 4.380 for the article titled Aggressive behaviour is affected by demographic, environmental and behavioural factors in purebred dogs.
Another article I found interesting was Reliability and Validity of a Dog Personality and Unwanted Behavior Survey by, again, Salla Mikkola. Interestingly, this article was ranked with a higher impact factor for ISSN number 2045-2322 of 2.752 for 2020 and 1.654 in 2017.
